The Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia expresses his country’s appreciation for the role played by Egypt
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, during his meeting with Ambassador Hamdi Shaaban, Egypt’s ambassador to Moscow, expressed his country’s appreciation for the role played by Egypt in the Middle East region to ensure the security of the region and the safety of its countries, which was reflected in the tireless Egyptian efforts that led to the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Agreement.
The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister praised the coordination and consultation between Egypt and Russia regarding various international and regional issues, expressing Russia’s appreciation for the active Egyptian role in various international frameworks. He expressed Russia’s aspiration for continued close coordination with Egypt regarding various issues of common interest.
The meeting dealt with a number of issues of common interest, especially coordination and mutual consultation between Egypt and Russia within the framework of the “BRICS” grouping.
The two sides agreed to pay more attention to enhancing cooperation among the countries of the group to implement joint projects in various sectors related to advancing comprehensive development efforts, including energy, manufacturing, infrastructure, emerging technologies, and innovation, especially artificial intelligence.
They also discussed cooperation between the parliaments of the BRICS countries, describing parliamentary cooperation as a major tool for enhancing rapprochement and cooperation among peoples, and they agreed on the importance of cooperation within the BRICS in the field of combating terrorism as it is a threat to the security of countries and the capabilities of their peoples.
During the meeting, developments related to nuclear non-proliferation and developments related to arms control were also discussed in light of recent international developments, where Ambassador Hamdi Shaaban stressed the necessity of uniting international efforts to prevent nuclear proliferation and ensure security and stability at the regional and international levels.
