Abu Dhabi Investment Office signs 29 strategic partnerships to accelerate the pace of commercial application of autonomous systems

Abu Dhabi, November 10, 2017 – The Abu Dhabi Investment Office today announced 29 agreements and strategic partnerships to accelerate the adoption of commercial solutions for autonomous systems within the logistics services system on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Systems Summit, which is being organized within the activities of the first edition of the “Abu Dhabi Autonomous Systems Week.”
These agreements consolidate Abu Dhabi’s position as one of the first cities in the world to implement an integrated infrastructure and regulatory system for autonomous systems, allowing companies to move from the pilot project stage to full commercial operation.
Thanks to the attractive investment environment and advanced testing sites, Abu Dhabi has become a global center for developing, operating and expanding the scope of new generation technologies in the smart mobility sector.
The strategic partnership agreements signed by the Abu Dhabi Investment Office included cooperation with world-leading companies in this vital sector, including “K2”, “Load Autonomous Company”, “Autologics”, “Sinaa” platform for marketing Emirati products, “Tract Easy”, “Multi Level” group, “Space 42”, and other leading companies locally, regionally and internationally in the smart and autonomous systems sector.
The 29 agreements include multiple vital sectors, including delivery services in the fields of e-commerce and food, in cooperation with the Integrated Transport Center “Abu Dhabi Transport”, the “Talabat” platform, “Noon”, and “Aramex”, in addition to healthcare services and logistical delivery with “Purelab”, and industrial and logistical solutions with “ADNOC Logistics and Services”. Partners cooperate locally and globally to accelerate the implementation of projects and transform them into integrated commercial solutions that contribute to a radical transformation in the logistics services landscape in the emirate.
The implementation of autonomous systems applications for land and air delivery, in addition to specialized industrial applications, has begun on the ground in various regions of Abu Dhabi.
This integrated approach, which is regulatoryly supervised by the Intelligent Autonomous Systems Council, reflects a shift in the way goods are transported and delivered to individuals and companies.
This trend focuses on developing and adopting autonomous solutions that are characterized by sustainability, efficiency and safety, to build a future logistics system that puts customers at the center of attention.
Since its establishment, the Intelligent Autonomous Systems Council has contributed to providing an integrated environment that includes the infrastructure, regulatory and security frameworks necessary to test autonomous solutions on a large scale and evaluate their commercial feasibility in Abu Dhabi.
On this occasion, His Excellency Badr Salim Sultan Al Olama, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, said that these agreements are the result of years of research and development within the framework of the Smart and Autonomous Vehicle Complex (SAVI) system, as research and regulatory efforts are translated into realistic commercial applications, and these projects represent a new strategic step towards consolidating Abu Dhabi’s position as a global destination for the development of autonomous systems, and these agreements are an important milestone to begin integrating these important technologies within the economic system, to form a basic base and a major hub for mobility networks. and future logistics services.
His Excellency added that this transformation is based on the vision of the Intelligent Autonomous Systems Council, which aims to unify efforts between regulation, infrastructure, and development of industrial sectors, allowing an integrated transition from feasibility studies to pilot application and full commercial operation. By developing solutions that serve the sectors of e-commerce, healthcare, and vital logistics services, we continue to strengthen Abu Dhabi’s position as a global center for the growth of future industries, accelerating innovation, and achieving a positive impact on societies and businesses.
The “Sinaa Platform” – the unified platform to support national industries and products – in partnership with ADNOC Logistics and Services, is working to develop innovative logistical solutions aimed at redefining the movement of transport and shipping of goods. These solutions include operating self-driving vehicles around the clock to reduce emissions and operational costs, and establishing smart warehouses supported by robots and artificial intelligence technologies, in addition to a digital fleet management system with a forward-looking vision and interaction with the surrounding environment immediately and in real time.
The smart logistics management system also extends to the air transport network in Abu Dhabi through a group of pioneering pilot projects for delivering parcels via drones, led by Load Automations in cooperation with Purelab, EMX, Noon, and Aramex. These projects reflect the commercial, operational and environmental capabilities of unmanned aerial systems, starting from transporting medical samples in a safe environment within cold chains, to scalable deliveries between sorting centers and areas. Delivery.
Abu Dhabi also continues to expand the scope of innovative solutions in the field of autonomous logistics systems through partnerships led by K2, in cooperation with Talabat, EMX, Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, Noon, and the Department of Municipalities and Transport.
These projects include experiments covering air and land transportation using smart electric vehicles and drones to develop delivery solutions, in addition to operating a fleet of electric vehicles specialized in cleaning streets using self-driving systems.
These projects confirm Abu Dhabi’s leadership in adopting realistic solutions in the urban environment of cities, as they support the goals of climate neutrality and enhance the productivity and efficiency of smart logistics services.
7X, the leading group in the trade, transportation and logistics sectors, also launched the “Autologics” project, the joint company it established with Zelostek, which specializes in autonomous vehicle technologies, and Emirates Post, to operate Level 4 autonomous transport trucks in Abu Dhabi, specially designed without a cockpit or control wheel, to represent a new generation of safer, more efficient urban transportation solutions based on clean energy.
These initiatives reflect the integrated approach adopted by Abu Dhabi in the field of smart mobility, by integrating the infrastructure, regulatory environment and innovation system under the umbrella of the Smart Autonomous Systems Council, to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of future logistics systems.
These efforts confirm Abu Dhabi’s leadership in the field of smart mobility and organizational excellence, and its role in shaping the features of the future economy based on innovation and autonomous systems solutions.
