المملكة: Al-Haqil: The municipal system is moving to smart operation to serve the guests of God


His Excellency confirmed Minister of Municipalities and HousingMr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail said that the municipalities and housing system is witnessing a qualitative transformation through which it has moved from the planning stage to the implementation stage, and from traditional work to smart operation and integrated digital management in Holy feelings in line with the aspirations of the wise leadership in serving Guests of the Most Gracious.

His Excellency explained during his participation in the Hajj Conference and Exhibition 1447 AH that this transformation embodies the Ministry’s vision of developing the municipal work system and enhancing the efficiency of field operation, pointing out that the management of municipal services in Mecca and the Masha’ir has become a model of integration between government agencies, embodying the spirit of the national vision in providing integrated cultural services to the guests of the Most Gracious.

Enriching the visitor’s experience

He explained His Excellency said that municipal work is no longer limited to the holy sites only, but rather includes the cities associated with the Hajj and Umrah journey, explaining that the ongoing urban development in Mecca and Medina aims to enrich the visitor’s experience and evoke the historical dimension of the Two Holy Mosques within an integrated civilized environment.

His Excellency pointed out that the municipalities and housing system provides six basic services that include: (safety of access, public health, cleanliness, food control, licensing, and honoring the dead). All of them are managed with advanced digital systems, pointing out that the system has operated more than 60 municipal centers equipped with modern technologies and smart control rooms that enable real-time monitoring and proactive dealing with challenges.

A qualitative shift

He added that the Hajj season 1446 AH witnessed a qualitative shift in food control in partnership with the Food and Drug Authority, through the implementation of 110,000 inspection tours on Central kitchens and points of sale, without recording any cases of food poisoning, which is an unprecedented achievement in the history of the Hajj seasons.

His Excellency stated that waste management has witnessed a major operational transformation, as more than 420 thousand cubic meters of waste and more than 18 thousand tons of slaughter waste were dealt with, using more than 3,000 smart equipment linked to real-time tracking systems to ensure operational efficiency and sustainability of cleanliness.

He also pointed out the implementation of drainage projects. Rainwater along a length of 160,000 linear meters in cooperation with the concerned authorities, with the aim of protecting lives and property, and implementing spatial planning systems that take into account the topographical nature of Mecca and the feelings.

Technical Integration

His Excellency explained that The Hajj season 1447 AH will witness a new shift in technical integration through the operation of unified control rooms covering all facilities of Mecca and the holy sites, and the activation of artificial intelligence systems to analyze data, predict risks, and raise operating efficiency.

His Excellency the Minister of Municipalities and Housing concluded his speech by emphasizing that the Kingdom is continuing to build a global model in managing the greatest human gathering on the face of the Earth, which reflects the wise leadership’s commitment to serving the guests of God, and its keenness to harness all capabilities to ensure the Hajj experience. Safe and accessible, it consolidates the Kingdom’s position and leadership in managing the greatest human population on Earth.
