Washington suspends “Caesar” sanctions on Syria

The US Treasury Department announced the suspension of sanctions imposed on Syria under the Caesar Act, in a step that does not include transactions linked to Russia, Iran, or any entities subject to US sanctions.

The announcement came after a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa, who is visiting Washington, at the White House, at a time when Trump confirmed that “great progress has been made in the Syrian file,” adding: “I think Al-Sharaa is doing well, and he is a strong man, and I got along with him very well.”
