Sharjah Sports Council holds its first meeting

Sharjah, November 10, 2017 – Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Humaid Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, chaired today the first meeting of the Board of Directors after the issuance of the decision to form it, at the Council’s headquarters in Sharjah, in the presence of all members and the Secretary-General.

The Chairman of the Council began the meeting by extending the highest expressions of thanks and gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, for the precious trust that His Highness placed in him by assigning him to head the Council, expressing deep gratitude and appreciation to His Highness the Crown Prince and the Deputy Rulers for their continued support for the sports march in the emirate.

He stressed that the Sharjah Sports Council will continue to work to preserve and build on the gains achieved over the past years, in a way that enhances the distinguished position that the Emirate of Sharjah enjoys in the sports and community fields at the local and international levels.

During the meeting, Dr. Abdullah Abdul Rahman bin Sultan was chosen as Vice-President of the Council. The members also discussed the mechanism for forming the auxiliary committees that will work under the umbrella of the Council, and it was agreed to approve their formations at the next meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, the attendees were briefed on the Amiri decree establishing the Board of Directors, in addition to the law regulating the establishment of the Board, its objectives, powers, and the powers of the President and the Secretary-General.
