Korean exports increased by 6.4% during the first ten days of November

SEOUL, November 11, 2018 (WAM) – The Republic of Korea’s exports rose by 6.4% on an annual basis during the first ten days of this November, according to data issued today, Tuesday, by the Korean Customs Authority.
According to the Korean news agency Yonhap, the value of exports amounted to 15.8 billion US dollars in the period from November 1 to 10, compared to 14.9 billion dollars in the previous year, according to the authority’s data.
Imports rose 8.2% year-on-year to $17 billion during this period, resulting in a trade deficit of $1.2 billion.
The agency attributed the increase in outbound shipments to strong global demand for semiconductors, cars and ships.
During last October, exports grew by 3.6% over the previous year to reach $59.57 billion on the back of strong demand for semiconductors, recording an increase for the fifth month in a row.
