Dubai Municipality launches the “Smart Municipality Eye” within Future Cities Week

Dubai Municipality launched the “Smart Municipal Eye” initiative, which will use drones equipped with artificial intelligence technologies to be a smart and mobile monitoring eye for the municipality from the sky, in order to monitor the condition of green spaces, measure the health of plants, and send reports directly to predict potential challenges to their health, which enhances Dubai Municipality’s ability to smartly manage the city and enhance its approach as a proactive municipality that manages the city with future data.
The aircraft will conduct an aerial and field survey of the vast green spaces in Dubai, which reach an area of 52 million square metres, analyze the health of plants and monitor any potential challenges in irrigation or pests, in addition to analyzing data immediately via artificial intelligence systems, which will allow the municipality to move to predictive and proactive maintenance, address challenges before they occur, and ensure the sustainability of the vegetation cover.
In support of this initiative, Dubai Municipality signed a memorandum of understanding with the “UAV Remote Control Aircraft Manufacturing” company, with the aim of developing paths of joint and constructive cooperation in the field of developing and employing the latest drone technologies and advanced artificial intelligence solutions to enhance municipal work, field and supervisory operations, and maintain the sustainability of urban and environmental assets in a way that supports Dubai’s future vision to be the best, most beautiful and most sustainable city.
The memorandum was signed by Rashid Hamdan bin Khadim Al Nuaimi, Director General of Dubai Municipality, Eng. Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of “Annan Al Samaa UAV Manufacturing Remote Control Aircraft Company,” within the activities of “Future Cities Week,” which was launched by Dubai Municipality in partnership with the Dubai Museum of the Future on November 10 and 11, with the participation of an elite group of thought leaders, experts, and decision makers, locally and internationally.
The Director General of Dubai Municipality said that the new cooperation with Anan Al Samaa Company represents an advanced step that enhances our efforts to be a leading proactive municipality supported by drones and artificial intelligence to manage municipal work and develop field services in the city and employ the latest innovations to manage the system of cosmetic agriculture and afforestation in Dubai.
For his part, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of “Annan Al Samaa” Company said that the agreement seeks to develop technical projects and smart systems that keep pace with Dubai’s future vision and contribute to raising the efficiency of operations and improving the quality of life.
Under the agreement, the two parties will provide technical support and expertise to develop innovative future solutions and exchange knowledge to experiment and apply pioneering operational models in a way that serves Dubai Municipality’s vision of managing its operations flexibly and efficiently and providing integrated services to the residents and visitors of the emirate, in accordance with advanced urban planning standards, achieving environmental sustainability and effective management of resources, and enhancing the attractiveness and aesthetics of the city.
