Dubai Roads employs the latest technologies to enhance smart control of transportation

The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai confirmed that the Smart Control Center at the Public Transport Corporation plays a pivotal role in enhancing security and safety in the sector of transport activities control, by employing the latest technologies and artificial intelligence to ensure compliance with the legislation and regulations governing passenger transport in the emirate.

The Center is responsible for managing, operating and developing regulatory systems on an ongoing basis, which contributes to raising the efficiency of monitoring various means of transportation, such as taxis, luxury transportation, bus routes, and electronic reservation companies, in addition to working on developing advanced plans to automate violations using smart technologies.

Saeed Al Balushi, Director of the Department of Monitoring Passenger Transport Activities at the Public Transport Corporation of the Authority, said that during the period from January to July 2025, the center monitored more than 428,000 follow-up cases in the taxi and luxury transportation sector, which resulted in identifying 29,886 cases of violation and non-compliance with laws and regulations. The monitored cases included 3,127 violations of road speed limits, 652 cases of not wearing a seat belt, and 4,251 cases of being preoccupied with using a phone while driving, as part of ongoing efforts to raise road safety levels and enhance transport users’ confidence in the Authority’s services.

Al Balushi confirmed that the center is working to expand the scope of its tasks within its future plans, to include monitoring operations related to the behaviors of taxi and luxury transportation drivers, which will contribute to improving the quality of services provided to passengers.
