Europe disburses 5.9 billion euros to Ukraine

Brussels, 13 November / WAM / The European Commission today announced the disbursement of a total amount of 5.9 billion euros to support Ukraine, confirming its position as the largest donor.

This amount consists of two parts: 4.1 billion euros, representing the tenth and final installment of exceptional aid, and more than 1.8 billion euros as the fifth regular installment within the “Ukraine Mechanism.”

This completes the European Union’s 2024 loan program amounting to 18.1 billion euros, thus paying its full share in the G7 “Accelerating Extraordinary Revenues” initiative, which aims to provide 45 billion euros.

In contrast, the other countries of the group provided 12.8 billion euros, bringing the total loans granted through the initiative so far to 30.9 billion euros, to be repaid entirely from the proceeds of frozen Russian assets.

The disbursement of the amount of 1.8 billion euros was approved after the Council approved on November 4 that Kiev had fulfilled 9 reform steps and a remaining measure from the previous installment, bringing the total European support provided since the start of the Russian-Ukrainian war to more than 187 billion euros.
