In pictures.. The movie “Dhayel Anana” opens the Arab screenings at the Cairo Film Festival amidst warm applause

Director Mai Saad attended the red carpet before the screening of the film, carrying a picture of her directing partner, the Palestinian Ahmed Al-Danaf, who was unable to come from Gaza due to the siege, but he joined her via video call to share the moment of the red carpet reception for the film at the festival, in a touching scene that expressed the spirit of solidarity that the work embodies.
The Grand Theater at the Cairo Opera House also witnessed on Thursday evening, November 13, the premiere of the documentary film “Away From Us,” showing “One More Show”, to be the first Arab film to be shown as part of the international competition activities at the 46th session of the Cairo International Film Festival, amid a large audience presence and influential interaction from the attendees.
The film received a warm round of applause from the audience at the conclusion of its screening, in appreciation of its human power and the poignant messages it presented as a living testimony to the ability of art to resist, and to the hope that blossoms amidst oppression and destruction in Gaza.
The film follows a circus’s journey. Free Gaza, which was founded by a group of young Palestinians who refused to surrender to despair despite the genocide that the Strip was experiencing. Among the shelters and the demolished streets, circus members continue to perform for children, giving them moments of joy and laughter amidst the most cruel times.
&ldquo“Away From Us Show” is the first documentary film directed by Mai Saad, with the participation of the Palestinian photographer Ahmed al-Danaf, and starring members of the Gaza Free Circus: Youssef Khader, Muhammad Ayman, Muhammad Obaid, Ahmed Ziara, Ismail Farhat, Muhammad Al-Akhras, and Ashraf Khader, along with a group of young circus artists from Gaza.
The film was produced by Bahu Bakhsh, Wasfi Al-Din Mahmoud, and co-producer Muhammad Hefzy “Film Clinic”, photographed by Ahmed Al-Danaf, Youssef Masharawi, and Mahmoud Masharawi, edited by Sarah Abdullah, sound design and mixing by Mustafa Shaaban, and color correction. Ahmed Abu Al-Fadl, while it is distributed internationally by Film Clinic Independent Distribution.
