"Once upon a time in Gaza" For the first time in the Middle East and North Africa… tonight

Today, Friday, November 14, 2025, the film “Once upon a time in Gaza” will be screened as part of the gala screenings at the 46th Cairo International Film Festival. Directed by Arab and Tarzan Nasser, in its first showing in the Middle East and North Africa region, as part of the international competition films, at 6:00 pm on the Grand Theater of the Cairo Opera House. 

 

"Once upon a time in Gaza" A feature film produced by France, Palestine, Germany, Portugal, Qatar, and Jordan, with a duration of 87 minutes.

 

The events of the film take place in Gaza in 2007, where it takes us into the world of Yahya, the student between whom and Osama, the kind-hearted drug dealer, develops an unexpected friendship. The two set out together to sell drugs from a falafel restaurant, but they face mounting pressure after confronting a corrupt and arrogant policeman. Events intertwine in a narrative that reveals the fragility of relationships and the harsh conditions in a society burdened by crises. The film is directed by the two brothers Tarzan and Arab Nasser, who were born in Gaza in 1988. Who participated in the Cannes Film Festival, before presenting their first feature film, “Degradé.” Which was shown during Critics’ Week in Cannes.

 

 Their second film, "Gaza Monamore" In the "Horizons" section At the Venice Film Festival, he represented Palestine at the 93rd Academy Awards. It is held annually under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture. In each session, the festival is keen to combine the artistic and professional dimensions, making it a major platform for dialogue between cultures and enhancing the presence of Arab cinema on the international scene.
