6 people were killed and injured as a result of a bus collision with a passenger station in Stockholm


Three people were killed and three others were injured after a Passengers were waiting at a bus station, in central Stockholm, during rush hour, according to what was announced in a preliminary outcome.

The police said in a statement: "Three people died in the accident and their identification continues. Three wounded people were transported to the hospital, two of them in an ambulance and a third by another means"

Road accidents in Sweden

Footage published by Swedish media showed a large police presence and and emergency vehicles were at the site, and relief crews made efforts underneath the double-decker bus to help people trapped underneath.

Police spokeswoman Nadia Norton said in a statement to Agence France-Presse that the cause of the accident was not yet clear.

She added. "An investigation will have to determine what happened. It’s too early to make any statements and I don’t want to speculate anything"

Bus driver arrested

It announced the arrest of the bus driver and the opening of an investigation into unintentional homicide, as a routine procedure.

Norton said: "We should interrogate him, then see if he will be released or detained".
