Conclusion of the Abu Dhabi Extreme Championship activities

Al Ain, November 15 / WAM / The activities of the eleventh edition of the Abu Dhabi Extreme Championship (ADXC 11) concluded yesterday evening, which was held at the ADNEC Center in the Al Ain region for the second time, with the participation of an elite group of the brightest jiu-jitsu and grappling stars in the world.

This edition was organized by the International Vision Sports Management Company (IVSM) and in cooperation with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, and achieved remarkable success amidst a remarkable public and media presence and an unprecedented enthusiastic atmosphere. This edition of the tournament recorded 10 fights, which varied between jiu-jitsu and grappling in an octagonal cage.

The tournament was attended and participated in crowning the winners by His Excellency Saleh Mohammed Al Jaziri, Director General of Tourism at the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi; Saeed Al Dhaheri, Director of the Tourism Destination Department at the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, and a number of important figures.

Tariq Al-Bahri, Deputy General Manager of World Vision Investment Company, said: “Today we witnessed an unprecedented level of enthusiasm and an impressive display of strength and skill, which represents an extension of the excellence that we have always strived to achieve in this tournament, and our keenness to provide the most wonderful experiences for combat sports fans in the region and the world.”

He congratulated the winners and thanked all the participants in this edition, who gave everything they could and enriched the audience’s experience. He expressed his happiness that Abu Dhabi Extreme will continue its successful journey and attract the strongest stars of jiu-jitsu and grappling, to keep pace with the aspirations of the audience in various parts of the world.

Brazilian Gabriel Souza was able to achieve a landslide victory over his compatriot Rowan Alvarenga by submission after a strong grappling fight in the lightweight category that lasted three rounds.

He said after his victory: “I am very happy with this victory and achieving an important achievement in my sports career on this global platform. I am always ready to fight in Abu Dhabi Extreme when I receive an invitation, because it is an excellent opportunity to raise the level of challenge and competition. I thank Abu Dhabi for organizing the tournament, and I thank my family and everyone who supported me.”

The main event of the joint grappling bouts in the lightweight category witnessed the victory of American Helena Krevar over Finnish Salla Simula by submission, achieving her second victory in the Abu Dhabi Extreme cage. She said: “I am proud to record the second victory by submission in Abu Dhabi Extreme, as in the first two rounds I focused on attacking her feet, but she defended strongly and continued trying until she overcame her defense and executed the submission.”

The main card witnessed Silkhan Bulatbek’s victory over Kenzo Pyong in a grappling welterweight bout, and Brazilian Daniel Barbosa’s victory over Russian Habibullah Afeev in an exhibition bout.

As for the preliminary card bouts, the Brazilian Arthur de Lima Souza was able to defeat his compatriot Breno Bitzer, the Emirati Ammar Al Hosani defeated the Kazakh Dabil Abdullah in a jiu-jitsu match in the heavyweight category, the Brazilian Joao Arthur defeated the Emirati Ghanem Al Ali in an exhibition jiu-jitsu match, the Brazilian Felipe Fernandez defeated the Emirati Hadi Abbas in a featherweight jiu-jitsu match, and the Emirati Obaid Al Ketbi won the Brazilian Victor Souza in a jiu-jitsu fight in the bantamweight category, and Brazilian Raimundo Italo Almeida defeated Emirati Mohammed Al Ketbi in a jiu-jitsu fight in the bantamweight category.
