Sharjah, November 16 / WAM / The first competition of the Sharjah “Longines” racing season began this evening, which consists of 6 rounds, all of which were allocated to purebred hybrid horses, with the participation of 82 horses, receiving prizes worth up to 240 thousand dirhams, sponsored by a number of institutions in the country.

The race and the crowning of the winners were attended by Sultan Muhammad Khalifa Al Yahyai, ​​Director General of the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club, and Muhammad Obaid Al Hussan Al Shamsi, Secretary General of the Sharjah Sports Council, along with representatives of the sponsors and a large audience of horse racing fans.

The colt, “ES Al-Ward,” owned by Sheikh Abdullah bin Majid Al Qasimi, under the supervision of trainer Hamad Al-Marar and led by Bernardo Pinheiro, was able to win the opening race cup designated for beginner purebred Arabian horses, “UAE production horses,” for the 1,000-meter speed distance, with the participation of 16 horses competing for financial prizes amounting to 40,000 dirhams.

The colt “Zaleem” from Al-Asayel Stables, under the supervision of trainer Anthony Jamil and led by jockey Sam Hatchcott, won the second-half cup designated for purebred Arabian horses for beginners over a distance of 1,200 metres, with the participation of 16 horses, receiving financial prizes amounting to 40 thousand dirhams.

The horse “Makin” won the impressive double for the horses of the Asayel Stables, under the supervision of trainer Anthony Jamil and led by Sam Hitchcott, by winning the third round cup allocated to purebred Arabian horses according to age and results from the “Emirates Breeding Horses” for a distance of 1,700 meters with the participation of 16 horses for financial prizes amounting to 40 thousand dirhams.

The horse “Safir” for “Yas Racing”, under the supervision of trainer Eric Lemartnell and led by jockey Jules Mobien, achieved an exciting victory in the fourth round cup designated for purebred Arabian horses, par for a distance of 1,700 metres, with the participation of 8 horses, receiving financial prizes amounting to 40 thousand dirhams.

The horse “Idris Des Ernest” by Faten Ahmed Rashid Manasrah, under the supervision of trainer Adel Mashahi and led by jockey Sandro Paiva, was able to achieve an advantage in the race that led him to win the fifth round cup allocated to purebred Arabian horses according to age and results over a distance of 2000 meters, with the participation of 14 horses, receiving financial prizes amounting to 40 thousand dirhams.

The competitions concluded with the horse “Motani” by Shadwell, under the supervision of trainer John Hyde and led by jockey Daniel Tudhope, winning the cup in the sixth round designated for purebred crossbred horses, a par for the 1200-meter speed distance, with the participation of 12 horses in the competition for financial prizes amounting to 40 thousand dirhams.
