Emirates Airlines orders 65 Boeing 777X aircraft worth $38 billion

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, signed an order to purchase 65 additional Boeing 777-9 aircraft equipped with GE 9X engines, worth $38 billion (about 139.5 billion dirhams), on the first day of the Dubai Airshow 2025.
With this announcement, Emirates Airlines’ total orders with Boeing rise to 315 wide-body aircraft, including 270 777-9 aircraft, 10 F777 freighters, and 35 787 aircraft. Its total orders for GE9X engines with GE Aerospace also increase to 540 engines, including 130 additional engines whose order was signed today. This reflects a long-term commitment to the US aerospace industry, which throughout the program will support hundreds of thousands of high-value industrial jobs in the US market.
The recent agreement with Boeing also gives a strong impetus to the feasibility study related to developing the largest 777-10 model in the 777X family, as the carrier has signed options to convert its new order from the 777-9 model to the 777-10 or 777-8.
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group, said: “Emirates Airline is the largest operator of Boeing 777 aircraft in the world, and today we continue to reinforce our commitment by ordering an additional 65 777-9 aircraft worth $38 billion, in addition to 130 GE9X engines. This investment represents an extension of our deep partnership with Boeing and GE Aerospace, and a pivotal support for the aerospace industry sector.” In the United States.
His Highness added: “Each aircraft within this order was approved according to precise standards to ensure its consistency with Emirates Airlines’ future roadmap and the needs of our expanding global network, and in line with Dubai’s development plans. Operating a modern and advanced fleet remains a fundamental pillar of our strategy, and we will continue to work closely with Boeing to ensure delivery of the first 777-9 aircraft starting in the second quarter of 2027, and to provide our fleet with the latest innovations, technologies and cabin products that take root Emirates Airlines’ leadership position in the industry.
Regarding the 777-10 options, His Highness said: “Emirates Airlines is constantly stressing its need for larger, more efficient aircraft to support its operations and global network, especially in light of the expected growth in air traffic and the increasing restrictions at global airports. We see that Boeing’s study to develop the 777-10 model represents an important direction to meet the requirements of global air carriers, and we fully support this step. We have already signed options to convert our new 777-9 order to 777-10 or 777-8, in line with our future plans and long-term directions.”
