المملكة: “Transport”: 1.58 million unified electronic contracts for car rental, an increase of 19.7%.


Revealed The General Authority for Transport announced the registration of 3,287 active licenses in various car rental activities during the first quarter of 2024, which reflects a noticeable expansion in the market and increasing demand for flexible transportation services that have become an essential part of The economic and service landscape in the Kingdom.
According to the Authority’s data, the number of licenses for electronic car rental activity reached only three licenses, while Category “A”, which is the category that includes companies owning more than 3,000 cars or more, recorded about 947 licenses, while Category “B” licenses – which include at least 300 cars – reached 988 licenses. As for Category “C,” which operates about 100 cars, it recorded 817 licenses, while the number of licenses for Category “D” — which includes small companies with a minimum of 15 cars — reached about 508. In a related context, the General Authority for Transport explained that unified electronic contracts for the car rental sector witnessed a significant increase during the second quarter of 2025, as more than 1.58 million electronic contracts for rental operations were registered in various regions of the Kingdom, an increase of 19.7% compared to the same period last year.

Raising the efficiency of services

The authority confirmed that the electronic contract The unified system contributed to raising the efficiency of leasing services and improving the quality of the used fleet. It also enhanced the protection of the rights of the lessor and lessee by reducing disputes and ensuring that all operations were documented electronically, in line with the digital transformation in the transportation system that the Kingdom is witnessing.

The authority also called on establishments licensed in the car rental activity to benefit from the services of the “Tajar” platform through the “Naql” electronic portal, noting that this platform provides unified and quick procedures for concluding contracts, managing fleets, and tracking operations. Operational accuracy, in a step aimed at raising the efficiency of the leasing market and enhancing competitiveness among service providers.
