DUBAI, 17 November / WAM / The Organizing Committee of the 27th General Conference of the International Council of Museums, “ICOM Dubai 2025”, which was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, “may God protect him”, and hosted by Dubai for the first time in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia region, organized a series of local and regional cultural tours, as part of its agenda of events aimed at enabling participating delegations to explore… The museum sector and the richness of the cultural scene in the country and the region.
This comes in the context of ICOM Dubai 2025’s commitments aimed at enhancing cultural understanding and knowledge exchange between communities, and consolidating the position of Dubai and the UAE as a global center for cultural creativity and innovation.
The tour program included a group of exceptional experiences aimed at enabling participants to visit a group of the most prominent cultural and archaeological landmarks in the country, including Al Shindagha Museum, the largest heritage museum in the Emirates, the Etihad Museum, and the Museum of the Future in Dubai, in addition to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and the National Palace in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain Oasis and Al Jahili Fort in Al Ain, the Mleiha Archeology Center and the Sharjah Heritage Museum in Sharjah, Dhayah Fort and the Ras Al Khaimah National Museum in Ras Al Khaimah. The tent, the Ajman Museum, the archaeological site of Tell Abraq, and the archaeological site of Al-Dur in Umm Al Quwain. Participants also had the opportunity to explore traditional markets, heritage and environmental sites, in addition to modern museums, tourist attractions and creative centers spread throughout the country, in a comprehensive experience that reflects the uniqueness of the UAE’s heritage and cultural identity, and its unique harmony between innovation, art, nature and architecture.
The program also included trips to regional destinations including the Sultanate of Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan.
These experiences were designed in cooperation with regional partners with the aim of providing a comprehensive vision of the museum and cultural scene in the region. These experiences embody the shared commitment to preserving heritage, promoting sustainability, and highlighting cultural storytelling that expresses the diversity of cultural identities in the region.
