Specialists reported that the UAE continues to strengthen its position as a global center for innovation and the new economy, through the development of advanced legislation and initiatives that support the protection of intellectual property rights and enable creators and inventors to transform their ideas into successful innovative projects that contribute to the growth of the national economy.

They stressed that the UAE follows global standards for protecting intellectual property with the aim of helping companies operating in the country to conduct their business around the world.
The UAE law and intellectual property protection represents a fundamental leader in supporting creativity and innovation and protecting the rights of creators and investors, as it emphasizes the importance of ensuring legislative protection of intellectual works and industrial rights.
Aisha Salem Hawi, General Legal Counsel for Music Niche, said: “Intellectual property is one of the legal pillars that promotes innovation and supports the investment environment in the UAE. It covers a wide spectrum of rights, such as copyrights, literary and artistic works, trademarks, patents, and industrial designs, in addition to trade secrets and undisclosed information.
Music Nation, which specializes in the fields of neighborhood rights and intellectual property for musicians and content creators in the UAE, announced the appointment of the lawyer specializing in intellectual property, Aisha Salem Hawi, as the company’s general legal advisor, to add new value with her experience to the veteran leadership team in the fields of music and business within Music Nation.
In her new position, Hawi assumes strategic leadership of the company’s legal, regulatory and governance affairs, in addition to driving international cooperation efforts, with the aim of developing and strengthening the first integrated music rights management structure in the UAE. She will assume her duties from Abu Dhabi, and work under the supervision of Music Nation CEO Amer Samhoun. This comes within the strategic expansion plan followed by the company’s business model.
Hawi added: “Intellectual property protection constitutes an important aspect of the legal system in the United Arab Emirates. The country has established laws and regulations to protect the rights of creators and owners of various forms of intellectual property, such as patents, trademarks, copyrights, and industrial designs. The country has also joined many international agreements and treaties, including the World Intellectual Property Organization Convention, the Gulf Cooperation Council, the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights in Trademarks, the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property, and the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works.”
