The inflation rate in Germany fell to 2.2% last year.

Berlin, January 17, 2017 – The inflation rate in Germany declined over the past year to 2.2% on an annual basis, while the price index remained unchanged.
The Federal Statistics Office announced, in a statement, that consumer prices rose on average annually for the year 2025 by 2.2% compared to 2024, while the annual increase in prices excluding energy and foodstuffs reached 2.8%, a level that remains higher than the total increase in prices during the year.
He pointed out that the prices of services increased by 3.5% compared to the previous year, explaining that some service items recorded noticeable increases, and net cold rents increased on average annually by 2.1%.
On the commodity level, the office recorded an increase in commodity prices on an annual average in 2025 by 1%, and food prices increased by 2%, while energy prices declined by 2.4% compared to 2024, pointing out that the inflation rate in 2025 would have reached 2.6% if the impact of the decline in energy prices was excluded.
Regarding the indicators for December 2025, the Federal Statistical Office explained that the annual inflation rate decreased to 1.8% compared to December 2024, with energy prices declining on an annual basis, service prices rising by 3.5% during the same month, and cold net rents rising by 2.2%.
