"My legacy"Reviews the aesthetics of Emirati crafts "Nomad Abu Dhabi 2025"

ABU DHABI, 22nd November / WAM / During its participation in the activities of the “Nomad Abu Dhabi 2025” exhibition, which was organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi in cooperation with the global “Nomad” exhibition in Terminal 1 at Abu Dhabi International Airport, the Irthi Contemporary Crafts Council reviewed its experience in presenting Emirati crafts as a language of dialogue that combines local culture with its global counterparts.

The Council presented to a group of leaders of exhibitions, art institutions, and design pioneers from the region and the world its vision for investing in handicrafts as a path to economic empowerment and a model capable of producing renewed craft content that interacts with international art schools.

“Irthi” presented to a group of world design sector leaders participating in the exhibition a collection of the works of his craftswomen in cooperation with the Mexican artist Ricardo Rendon as part of a special exhibition highlighting the use of Emirati craftsmanship techniques with their Mexican counterparts.

The Council organized a dialogue session that monitored the role of natural resources and the local environment in enriching the world of design, in addition to organizing practical workshops that reviewed methods for developing contemporary products based on the techniques of tally and safifah.

The participation of “Irthi”, which was established under the patronage and directives of the wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, Chairwoman of the Irthi Council for Contemporary Crafts, in the exhibition, which is being held for the first time in the capital, Abu Dhabi, comes within the Council’s direction to enhance the presence of Emirati crafts on international platforms and in line with the vision of the exhibition, which explores the development of art, architecture, and cultural communication in the history of the UAE and highlights its customs, traditions, and craft and cultural heritage.
