Lugano – Switzerland, April 13 / WAM / Today, Monday, the Swiss University of Lugano hosted a signing ceremony for the book “The Artificial Womb… The World After Human Reproduction” by His Excellency Dr. Jamal Sanad Al Suwaidi, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research.
The signing ceremony was attended by Luisa Lambertini, Rector of the University of Lugano, and Professor Abdullah Raweh, a world-renowned heart surgeon, along with a number of academic leaders, including Manuela Sotgio Di Martino, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Ludis Institute, Professor Eugenio Di Caro, President of the Institute, Joel Sotgio, Executive Director of the Institute, Professor Maria Teresa Martino, Director of the Bachelor’s Program in Physiotherapy, and Miriam Ros Alarcón, Director of Quality Assurance at the University of Lugano. During the ceremony, His Excellency Dr. Jamal Al Suwaidi praised the scientific and cognitive role played by the university in supporting scientific research and promoting enlightened thought.
His Excellency stressed that the book “The Artificial Womb: The World After Human Reproduction” provides a comprehensive treatment of one of the most prominent future scientific issues, as it addresses the nature of this technology, its paths of development, and its potential prospects, in addition to an analysis of its social and cultural dimensions, and its repercussions on the family system and society.
He stressed that dealing with this technology should not be based on absolute rejection, but rather on rational regulation based on clear legal and ethical foundations, ensuring a balance between scientific progress and preserving human values.
The book is considered one of the forward-looking intellectual publications that discusses the future of biotechnology and its long-term effects, as it raises fundamental questions about the concepts of human identity and motherhood, and the limits of technology’s interference in human nature, based on a balanced scientific and methodological analysis.
