Jiu-Jitsu Champions: Competing at the Abu Dhabi World Championship requires a full season of hard work

ABU DHABI, 22nd November / WAM / A number of champions and heroines of professional jiu-jitsu who participated in the finals of the purple and brown belt competitions, as part of the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, which concludes its activities tomorrow at the Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City with the crowning of champions, confirmed that the competitions in this tournament are the most difficult in the world, and that reaching the finals requires a full season of work and training.

Italian Bernardo Gucci expressed his great happiness in reaching the final round after his victory in the current edition of the tournament, stressing that this is the sixth time he has participated in the tournament’s competitions and achieved this achievement.

He added: “This is a special moment for me and a new achievement. I have previously won other world championships and achieved second and third place before, but reaching this position in the Abu Dhabi World Championship is a great achievement.”

He explained that this tournament is one of the greatest tournaments in the world, and everything in it is carefully prepared for the participants so that they appear in the best light, noting that participating in the Abu Dhabi International is the best culmination.

Brazilian Johnny Muniz, who is participating for the first time in the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu competitions, said: “The tournament is amazing. I fought 3 fights and achieved victory, and I am very happy to be here in this forum.

He added: “The organization here is wonderful, and there are many strong fighters, yet I feel very comfortable competing in this atmosphere. My dream is to fight at the best level possible and to become the world champion.”

Al Jazira Club player Mira Al Dhaheri spoke about the journey of development she went through in this tournament, and said: “I reached the semi-finals, and this is a great achievement, but winning gold will always be the most important in my career.”

Mira, who started practicing jiu-jitsu at the age of 12, added: “I am proud of what I presented at the Abu Dhabi World Championships. This tournament has its own character. Preparation for it begins early in order to compete strongly with the world champions. Here I feel the continuous development in my favorite game.”

Brazilian Italo Almeida stressed that the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu World represents a great challenge for every player participating in its competition, as it brings together world champions, and reaching the final rounds is very difficult, and what it achieved by reaching the final is very special.”

He added: “My beginning with jiu-jitsu was difficult. I started training at the age of thirteen without great expectations, but today this sport has changed my life and opened new horizons for me. Reaching all the tournament fights requires long preparation and great effort throughout the season.”

For her part, Italian Giada expressed her great enthusiasm for participating in the tournament and said: “This is my first time in Abu Dhabi, and I am very excited for this tournament. Everything here is very organized and professional, and I thank the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation for this wonderful tournament.”

She added: “I started practicing jiu-jitsu in Italy at the age of 15, then I moved to the United Kingdom because the level there is higher, and I am striving to achieve my dream of becoming a world black belt champion. I know that it is difficult at Abu Dhabi International, but reaching the final rounds is a great achievement for me, and that is what I achieved.”
