The UAE is the first destination in the world for company managers leaving Britain

An investigation by the British newspaper “The Telegraph” revealed that the UAE tops the list of countries to which managers of British companies leave, as it is the most popular and preferred destination for them to work and live, followed by Spain, and then the United States in third place.

Business owners are leaving Britain for other countries as the “doomsday” budget prepared by British Treasury Secretary Rachel Reeves approaches.

Reeves has said she wants to oversee “pro-growth” measures that will boost the economy and help businesses “thrive.”

But in the past 12 months, 6,100 UK company directors have left, up from 4,300 during the same period the previous year – a 42% increase.

These numbers are derived from records Companies Housewhich lists the number of directors with significant control over their companies who changed their country of residence from the UK to a foreign country.

The Telegraph investigation also revealed that the most popular destination for company managers is the United Arab Emirates, followed by Spain, and then the United States in third place, according to an analysis conducted by the newspaper. The Telegraph.

In 2023-2024, about 325 managers moved to the UAE, with the number rising in 2024-2025, to 571 managers, an increase of 75.7%.

The number of managers who moved to Spain increased by 35.2%, from 332 to 449. The number of managers who moved to the United States increased by 27%, from 294 to 373.

Business leaders point to a number of changes introduced by the Labor government, including tightening restrictions on non-residents, reducing inheritance tax breaks for family businesses, and raising capital gains tax, as reasons for this exodus.

In general, the UAE continues to consolidate its position as a top global destination for wealthy individuals, as a recently published report by Henley & Partners indicated that the country is expected to attract a net influx of up to 9,800 millionaires in 2025, with a total investable wealth estimated at approximately 63 billion US dollars.
