"Abu Dhabi Ports" and"source" They sign an agreement to develop offshore wind energy generation projects

ABU DHABI, 24th November, 2017 (WAM) – Abu Dhabi Ports Group announced the signing of a partnership agreement with Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company “Masdar”, a global leader in the field of clean energy, to cooperate in developing and implementing offshore wind energy generation projects.

Under the agreement, the two parties will work to identify opportunities in which Abu Dhabi Ports Group can be a partner and main contractor for Masdar’s global initiatives in the field of offshore wind energy generation. The two parties will also jointly define the technical requirements for Masdar projects, and identify areas in which Abu Dhabi Ports Group can employ its extensive technical and logistical capabilities, including the provision and manufacture of substations, land and sea logistics solutions, and subsea services, in addition to support services in the fields of maintenance and operation, in order to meet the needs of the projects efficiently and cost-effectively.

Captain Ammar Al Shaiba, CEO of Maritime and Shipping, Abu Dhabi Ports Group, said: “Our integrated maritime and logistics capabilities, and extensive experience in major project management, enable us to provide the technical solutions and operational excellence needed to support Masdar’s major offshore wind projects. By leveraging our combined strengths, we have a promising opportunity to accelerate the development and implementation of sustainable, innovative and technologically advanced offshore wind generation solutions.”

For his part, Mohammed Jameel Al Ramahi, CEO of Masdar, said: “Masdar is a global leader in developing offshore wind energy projects, and we are continuing our efforts to accelerate the growth of this vital sector and contribute effectively to creating a qualitative shift in the field of clean energy. Marine wind energy is an essential pillar for creating a qualitative shift in global energy systems, as marine turbines allow us to benefit from strong and continuous winds to generate high and reliable energy. Masdar has developed and operated several pioneering projects in the offshore wind energy sector in Europe, including the 476 MW Eagle Baltic Sea project in Germany, and the 1.4 GW East Anglia 3 project in the United Kingdom, highlighting the feasibility and scalability of this important technology.

It is worth noting that this partnership between Abu Dhabi Ports Group and Masdar comes in line with the national vision of the UAE, which aims to enhance economic diversification and advance the process of sustainable development. By employing advanced marine infrastructure, integrated logistics networks, and the technical expertise of both parties, this partnership aims to establish new standards for the development and implementation of offshore wind energy projects.
