Before the Oscars… Hollywood receives the Egyptian film "Happy birthday day" In a special offer

The Hollywood Arab Film Institute, in cooperation with the New York Film Academy, announced a special screening of the Oscar-nominated Egyptian film “Happy Birthday” Directed by director Sarah Johar, on December 5 at the Academy’s branch in Los Angeles.

This screening comes as part of the Foundation’s efforts to promote Arab cinema within the American film industry, and the film will be followed by a discussion session with its director, Sarah Johar, in the presence of an elite group of the most prominent workers in the film field in the United States.

 

The film “Happy Birthday” narrates Or  "Happy Birthday Day" The story of Touha, a child who works for a wealthy family, and a warm human relationship develops between her and Nelly, the family’s daughter. Although Touha has never experienced the atmosphere of a birthday of her own, she is making a great effort to create a special celebration for Nelly, while maintaining within her a hidden desire to experience the taste of joy, too.

 

The work stars Nelly Karim, Hanan Mutawa, and the child Doha Ramadan, and it is co-written by Sarah Johar and Mohamed Diab. The film won several awards at international festivals, and was produced by Ahmed El-Desouki.

 

The Hollywood Arab Film Festival is held as part of the activities celebrating Arab Heritage Month, with the aim of providing a space for filmmakers from the Arab world and North Africa to meet, create, and present their work to Western audiences. Its fifth session is scheduled to start in mid-April.
