Port Said hosts an exhibition "Back to the roots" In conjunction with the COP30 climate conference

In a remarkable blend of visual art and global environmental issues, Port Said Governorate hosted the exhibition “Back to the Roots: Climate Change and its Future” “Down to Earth” In the historic Princess Ferial Park, under the auspices of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Cairo, in cooperation with the “Photoopia” Foundation, and with the artistic coordination of the “World Press Photo” Foundation. World.. The organization of the exhibition coincided with the holding of the United Nations Climate Conference COP30 in the city of Belém in the heart of the Amazon forest, to form a visual bridge between international discussions on climate and the awareness of the local public.

 

 

– A visual legacy that documents the Earth’s crises.

The exhibition includes twenty-one international photographic projects from the “World” archive. Press Photo” was chosen to provide an in-depth reading of the twenty-first century from the perspective of climate change. The images are not enough to document crises, but rather become a living testimony to the environmental transformations taking place on the planet: from rising water levels to drought, from forest fires to industrial expansion that puts pressure on fragile ecosystems.

 

The exhibition presents two basic narratives:

The narrative of the crisis, which reviews the effects of emissions, coal and oil extraction, and the growing pollution and devastation in landscapes around the world; And the narrative of resistance and adaptation, whose images reveal popular and scientific initiatives, such as alternative energy, sustainable agriculture experiments, indigenous practices, and environmental protests around the world.

The organization of the exhibition comes in the context of the Egyptian state’s interest in climate issues and green transformation, through the National Climate Change Strategy 2050, and the “Decent Life” initiative. “green”, and expanding clean energy projects..
