Canadian International Partnership
The partnerships extended to include the advanced technology sector, where an agreement was signed to develop the technology of extracting “cellulose” from Palm fronds through a Canadian international partnership, which opens new industrial horizons for the uses of palm components in non-traditional sectors.
In the food industry sector, the National Center for Palms and Dates has concluded agreements with major international and local restaurant chains and food companies. To introduce dates as a basic ingredient in sweets, pastries and fast food products, in addition to launching a new specialized brand to provide transformative date products in retail markets.
Cosmetic health products
Palm products entered the health and cosmetic sector through agreements that allow the sale of products extracted from the “date kernel” in major pharmacy chains, in a step aimed at maximizing the benefit from all parts of the fruit and turning them into products with investment returns. Rewarding.
The system strengthened its social and heritage orientations by launching the “Roots” initiative in partnership with the Heritage Authority and non-profit bodies, which focuses on qualifying Saudi craftsmen in handmade palm industries, to ensure the sustainability of the cultural heritage and linking it to real job opportunities.
The ceremony witnessed the honoring of 13 researchers and innovators with the National Palm and Dates Center International Award in its fourth session, where 205 contestants from 35 countries competed, and the ceremony was distributed. The winners included several countries, including Saudi Arabia, America, Britain, and Mexico, which reflects the global momentum for scientific research in this sector.
Strategic Partnership
The conference held a strategic scientific partnership with King Abdullah University of Science and Technology “KAUST” under the slogan “Innovation for Sustainability,” to link the outputs of scientific research with industrial applications, with broad participation from experts and international institutions to exchange knowledge and develop value chains.
The new alliances included joint government cooperation. With the Ministry of Economy and Planning to align the goals of the date sector with national economic plans, in addition to agreements to enhance digital marketing of Saudi dates and their derivatives locally and globally.
The official and international attendees toured the pavilions of the accompanying exhibition, which is held under the slogan “The World of Dates,” learning about the great diversity of Saudi date varieties and their transformative products that reflect the identity of the Kingdom’s various regions, and confirm its leadership as the largest exporter of dates in the world.
