Forum "UAE Olympic" Reviews the election regulations and appeals
Dubai, 3 April / WAM / The UAE Olympic Committee, during the forum it organized in the presence of representatives of sports federations and clubs, reviewed the election regulations and central electoral appeals.
The organization of the forum, which concluded its work yesterday and lasted for two days at the Committee’s headquarters in Dubai, comes within the framework of the Committee’s keenness to strengthen the principles of governance and transparency, and unify the electoral procedures for sports federations and clubs, based on the regulations approved during the General Assembly meeting of the UAE Olympic Committee, which was held last February.
The forum aimed to support sports federations and clubs in implementing regulatory frameworks in accordance with international best practices, ensuring the integrity and safety of electoral procedures.
Dr. Muhammad Fadlallah, Legal Advisor to the UAE Olympic Committee, confirmed during his lecture that the regulations aim to consolidate the principles of equality and independence in the electoral process within sports federations and clubs, and to enhance the concepts of efficiency, transparency and accountability, by controlling procedures and unifying election systems, in addition to strengthening the role of general assemblies, and defining powers and responsibilities at various relevant organizational levels.
During the forum, the unified organizational regulations for the formation and tasks of the Electoral Appeals Committee were reviewed, as this committee is committed to applying international best practices, in accordance with the provisions of the Olympic Charter, the rules of international sports federations, and the committee’s statute, in addition to the relevant laws and governance systems.
For his part, His Excellency Mohammed bin Darwish, Executive Director of the UAE Olympic Committee, stressed, at the conclusion of the event, the importance of organizing such specialized legal forums, in light of the rapid developments witnessed by the Olympic movement, indicating the committee’s keenness to prepare comprehensive regulations covering various aspects related to elections and appeals in sports federations.
He explained that the forum was organized for sports federations, along with another similar forum with the participation of sports clubs in the country, with the aim of reviewing the regulations themselves and enhancing awareness of their importance among the various components of the Olympic movement in the country.
