Noura Jamsheer, CEO of the Bahrain Institute for Pearls and Gemstones (Danat), confirmed that signing the agreement with Kooheji Jewelery represents an important step to consolidate confidence in the jewelry market, noting that the agreement comes at a time when the sector is witnessing major transformations with the widespread spread of laboratory-grown diamonds and the high need for consumer protection.

Jamsheer said: “We are happy today to sign an agreement with Kooheji Jewellery, one of the leading companies in the jewelry sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain and in the Arabian Gulf region.

This agreement aims for Danat Laboratory to undertake the examination and documentation of the jewelry sector at Kooheji Jewellery, which is of great importance at this time, especially with the wide spread of laboratory-grown diamonds.”

She added: “We realize that any market based on protecting the consumer and enhancing trust between him and brands is a market capable of developing and growing.

This agreement will be a successful start to consolidating consumer confidence and enhancing transparency in the market.”

Regarding the expected benefit to the consumer, she explained: “The goal is for Kooheji jewelry pieces to carry a DANAT certificate, which will serve as a guarantee or proof of quality and support, and support the value of the piece as an investment that can be kept for many years. This certificate constitutes a real guarantee to the consumer about the type and quality of diamonds, and can even be transmitted as a documented value across generations.”

Jamsheer indicated that the project will take place in stages, saying: “The project will take time, and it is not possible to examine all the pieces at once, but the plan includes examining Kooheji Jewelry in the Kingdom of Bahrain, as well as in its branches in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in a gradual and systematic manner.”

For his part, CEO of Kooheji Jewellery, Ahmed Jawdat, confirmed that the agreement reflects the company’s commitment to enhancing reliability and transparency in its products, saying: “Today we signed a very important agreement with the Danat Foundation, which is a national institution that we are proud of, and we at Kooheji Jewelry are always keen to cooperate with national institutions that enhance consumer confidence.”

He added: “The importance of this agreement comes from the fact that it gives the consumer a higher level of reassurance. When jewelry pieces are certified by an accredited and important laboratory in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, this enhances confidence in the jewelry that customers buy from Kooheji.”

He continued: “We are always committed to the highest standards in selecting diamonds and precious stones, and this agreement confirms this commitment by authenticating the pieces with a certificate approved by Danat, which provides the consumer with additional guarantee of the quality and value of what he acquires.”

Regarding the timing of the signing, he said, “We chose for the signing to take place during the closing day of the Arabian Jewelery Exhibition, which is one of the most important exhibitions in the region.

We have been participating in this exhibition for more than thirty years, and it represents a major platform to highlight the development of the sector and initiatives that enhance confidence in the jewelry market.

Hence the importance of signing the agreement at this event, as it confirms the depth of the partnership between two Bahraini institutions: Danat and Kooheji Jewellery.”

The signing of the agreement came within a broader framework of cooperation between the two sides, which aims to conduct a comprehensive examination and specialized laboratory tests for Kooheji jewelry pieces, ensuring the accuracy of the evaluation and documentation of the stones in accordance with the highest international standards.

The cooperation is also consistent with the global trend to raise levels of transparency in the jewelry market and enhance consumer confidence in light of the increasing spread of laboratory-grown stones.
