What did the Pope’s message carry on his first visit to Lebanon?

On Sunday, Pope Leo XIV wrote a message in the register of honor at the Lebanese Presidential Palace, on the first day of his official visit to the country.

His message stated: “At the beginning of my visit to Lebanon, one of the first stops on my apostolic journey, I wish abundant blessings to the people of Lebanon, hoping that peace will prevail in the country.”

The Pope had arrived in Beirut, where he was officially received at Rafic Hariri International Airport in the presence of the President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, the Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nabih Berri, in addition to the Army Commander, General Rudolph Heikal.

The visit includes a program that extends until Tuesday, which includes tours in five Lebanese cities and towns, after which he departs for Rome, while southern Lebanon was excluded from the visit schedule due to the security conditions.
