Al Khaleejia celebrates Bahraini Women’s Day by launching the fifth edition of the “President for One Day” initiative

On December 1, Gulf University celebrated Bahraini Women’s Day by launching the fifth edition of the “President for a Day” initiative, which has become one of the established annual initiatives that reflects the university’s commitment to empowering women and activating their role in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the country, and Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King, may God protect and protect them.
This year, Shahad Hisham Al-Issa, a second-year student at the College of Law, was chosen to assume the duties of university president for one day after a selection process that took place among eight female candidates who distinguished themselves in academic performance, leadership traits, and community participation. During her day in office, Shahad held a consultative session with the University President, Professor Dr. Muhannad Al-Firas, and was briefed on the organizational policies and procedures in administrative affairs. She carried her responsibilities with confidence and took a number of decisions that reflected her awareness of the importance of the university’s societal, developmental, and leadership role.
The young president’s decisions included specific initiatives to enhance the status of Bahraini women within the university, including honoring Bahraini female employees and allocating half a working day to them on this occasion. And allocating a budget to participate in the Marai 2025 exhibition, and supporting the national football team during its participation in Doha by providing a bus to transport students and employees from the university to attend the matches, in an initiative that reflects their spirit of national belonging.
In a statement on this occasion, student Shahad Hisham Al-Issa expressed her gratitude for this opportunity, saying: “I feel very proud of Gulf University’s trust and granting me this leadership experience that allowed me to learn about the mechanisms of administrative work and decision-making. This initiative represents an inspiring step for female students and opens up broader horizons for us to contribute to shaping the future and gaining skills and knowledge.”
For his part, Professor Dr. Muhannad Al-Faras, President of the University, confirmed that the continuation of this initiative for the fifth year in a row embodies the University’s vision of supporting young female leaders, noting that the selection of the student Shahad came as a result of her excellence and seriousness, adding: “We at the Gulf University believe that empowering female students and giving them leadership opportunities enhances their role in society and keeps pace with Bahrain’s vision and the directives of the wise leadership.”
The event concluded with a celebratory atmosphere associated with a spirit of pride in the pioneering achievements of Bahraini women and their important role in the nation’s renaissance.
