المملكة: Somali official: The Kingdom is the first country to respond to the humanitarian call to confront drought


The head of the Somali National Disaster Management Agency, Mahmoud Maalim Abdullahi, confirmed that The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the first country to officially respond to the humanitarian appeal launched by the Federal Republic of Somalia by providing relief aid via King Salman Center for Humanitarian Aid and Relief, after his country was exposed to Severe drought due to lack of rain.
This came during a meeting held by the head of the Somali National Disaster Management Agency with the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Somalia Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Mawlid and the director of the King Salman Relief Center in Africa branch, Yazid Al-Hamoud, to discuss the repercussions of the drought and the speed of delivering urgent aid to those affected by the drought, which targets about 84,000 individuals from the most affected groups.

Efforts to rescue those affected

The head of the Somali National Disaster Management Agency expressed his deep thanks and gratitude to the Kingdom, represented by the King Salman Relief Center, for the speed of its urgent humanitarian response to this appeal, stressing that this Aid represents an essential pillar in the efforts to rescue those affected by this disaster, praising the Kingdom’s firm position on the various crises and tribulations that the Somali people are going through.

The Kingdom’s relief and humanitarian efforts

Ambassador Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Muwallad appreciated the relief and humanitarian efforts made by the Kingdom of Giving through its humanitarian arm, the King Salman World Relief Center, noting that these efforts embody the keenness of the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister – may God protect them – to stand with all brotherly and friendly countries and peoples, and to provide various forms of humanitarian aid to them, noting the strength of the fraternal relations between the Kingdom and the Federal Republic of Somalia.
