Zayed National Museum opens its doors to visitors and offers a full program of cultural activities


ABU DHABI, 3rd December, 2017 (WAM) – Zayed National Museum, the national museum of the United Arab Emirates, today opened its doors to visitors, in the heart of the Saadiyat Cultural District in Abu Dhabi.
Zayed National Museum receives visitors to participate in a program full of performances, workshops and various cultural activities, which continues until December 31, under the slogan “Strong Roots and a Living Legacy.”
The program, which combines music, folk arts and narrative, celebrates the UAE’s heritage and cultural legacy in the museum’s internal and external spaces, and presents heritage performances of the arts of Razfa and Na’ashat, and the Emirati coffee experience designed by the “Coffee House”, accompanied by the singing art of Al-Taghrooda, along with the songs of the coastal Nahma and the art of the mountainous scar, and poetic and musical events.
The workshops provide visitors with the opportunity to explore traditional crafts and arts inspired by the museum’s narrative and its collections, in addition to tours of the museum that require advance reservation.
His Excellency Mohammed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, said that the Zayed National Museum, as the national museum of the United Arab Emirates, tells the story of this land and its people. The museum embodies the unifying power of culture, as a space that allows citizens, residents and visitors alike to see themselves in the mirror of the story of our people and our land. It is a meeting point between heritage and modernity, contributing to shaping our understanding of the country’s evolving cultural narrative and highlighting its renewed features.
He added that the museum, as a global center for research and learning, will inspire and prepare the next generation of Emirati curators, historians and specialists in heritage preservation, enabling our country to strengthen its role in producing knowledge and contributing to the global cultural discourse.
The Zayed National Museum takes its visitors on a journey through the history of the UAE, starting with the oldest evidence of human existence, all the way to the civilizations that contributed to shaping its culture and identity, with a focus on the efforts of the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, in establishing the union, and lists the values and ambitions that formed the foundations of building the state.
The museum is a cultural bridge that highlights the common history, culture and heritage between the seven emirates.
