It dates back to 1853.. Kate Middleton shines with a crown of diamonds with 2,600 diamonds (photos)

During the official banquet held at Windsor Castle in honor of the official visit of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier to Britain, Princess of Wales Kate Middleton made a striking appearance.
Kate caught attention with her first appearance with Queen Victoria’s eastern ring tiara, which is the largest royal piece she has worn since joining the royal family.
The crown, which dates back to 1853, was made under the supervision of Prince Albert, who is of German origin, which made its choice carry a special significance on the occasion of celebrating German guests.
The crown, studded with 2,600 diamonds, was decorated with opals before Queen Alexandra replaced it with rubies.
Although it passed through the hands of the Queen Mother and Queen Elizabeth, the latter wore it only once, during an official visit to Malta in 2005. Thus, Kate’s latest appearance is the first public appearance of this tiara in about 20 years.
