Average human lifespan…the indicator that combines the health system’s efforts into impact

In the health sector, the value of achievements is complete when they are reflected in human health and quality of life. From this standpoint, the average human lifespan in the Kingdom stands out as the most comprehensive indicator. It embodies the outcome of the efforts of the Ministry of Health and the health system in integration with various government agencies, in developing health care services, raising the quality of life, and enhancing prevention, enabling people to live a longer and healthier life.

The Kingdom continues to achieve rapid progress in this indicator, as a result of the transformation process led by the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 to develop the health sector and enhance the quality of life, as the average human lifespan in the Kingdom rose from 77.6 years in 2022 to 78.8 years in 2023, then to 79.7 years in 2024, approaching the target of 80 years by 2030, reflecting the accumulated impact of health reforms and the integration of efforts. The health system, and the supervisory and regulatory role of the Ministry of Health within the health transformation process.

The indicator of the increase in human life expectancy in the Kingdom reflects the progress of health efforts in promoting preventive health, based on the concept of prevention before treatment, in addition to efforts to raise the quality of health care, facilitate access to services, enhance the efficiency of chronic disease management, and integrate levels of care, in addition to the integration of the efforts of government agencies in the Ministerial Committee for Health in all policies, in an embodiment of the one-government approach that makes human health the focus of national development.
This progress reflects the health system’s continuation in building a more integrated and efficient care model that puts people at the center of its attention and enhances the sustainability of health gains and quality of life.
