The team is required to avoid mistakes against the “Pharaohs”… and 3 points are necessary

The national football team is facing a difficult confrontation in the 2025 Arab Cup, currently being held in Doha, when it meets its Egyptian counterpart at 10:30 pm today at Lusail Stadium, in the second round of Group C.
Al-Abyad is going through a critical stage, as it enters the match in search of compensation after its loss to the Jordanian team 1-2, as it occupies last place without a score in the group topped by “Al-Nashama” with three points compared to a point for each of the Egyptian and Kuwaiti teams, who tied in the first round 1-1, which makes a full score an absolute necessity for the national team if it wants to continue the journey of searching for a qualifying card for the second round.
The task will not be easy, as Al-Abyad faces a strong team such as the Egyptian team, which stumbled in a draw against Kuwait in the first round, knowing that Egypt previously won the championship title in 1992.
According to the tournament system, which includes 16 teams, the first and second place finishers from each group qualify for the quarter-finals.
Romanian coach Olario Cosmin is expected to make some changes to the starting lineup, especially in the back line, after the fatal defensive errors that cost the team two goals against Jordan, especially on the part of players Kwame Quaidu and Khaled Al-Dhanhani, who will miss today’s match because he received a red card in the last match, and Aladdin Zuhair is expected to be his replacement.
Despite the loss of the Whites’ kickoff, Romanian coach Olario Cosmin, who focused in the last training session on correcting mistakes, is betting on many player options to make the difference, such as Luan Pereira, Bruno, Caio Lucas, and Harib Abdullah.
Striker Sultan Adel is also expected to return to leading the attack, after sitting on the bench in the first round.
The confrontation represents a new test of Cosmin’s ability to correct the team’s path and restore its usual levels, after the decline in performance in the recent period, and the squandering of a historic opportunity to qualify for the 2026 World Cup due to influential technical errors.
On the other hand, the Egyptian team, led by coach Helmy Tolan, is seeking to achieve its first victory and raise its score to four points.
The Egyptian team (the Pharaohs) was close to losing to Kuwait, which led by a goal until the 82nd minute, before the Egyptians equalized from a penalty kick scored by Mohamed Magdy (Qafsha).
The Egyptian national team includes a distinguished group of players, most notably: Mohamed Elneny, a professional in the Emirati club Al-Jazira, Amr Al-Soulia, and Mohamed Sharif.
