European division over the use of Russian assets to finance Ukraine

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced that she had discussed with the Chancellor of Germany and the Prime Minister of Belgium the proposal to use Russian assets to finance Kiev, stressing that no consensus had been reached in this regard.
Von der Leyen wrote in a post on the “X” platform: I met with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Belgian Prime Minister Bart de Wever to exchange views on the situation in Ukraine and the frozen Russian assets, and we agreed that the time factor is extremely important in light of the current geopolitical developments.
