In an educational achievement.. 3 new Saudi cities join the UNESCO Learning Network

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) announced the adoption of three New Saudi cities within the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities, according to what was published on the organization’s official website for the year 2025.
The joining cities included the capital, Riyadh, the city of Al-Ula in the Medina region, and the city of Riyadh Al-Khubara in the Qassim region, after its success in meeting the international standards adopted by UNESCO for building sustainable educational communities.
The organization explained that these cities were able to integrate the concept of learning into daily life through schools, workplaces, public facilities, and homes, to form Dynamic educational communities provide broad opportunities to rehabilitate the workforce and raise their skills in line with the requirements of advanced labor markets.
It has also contributed to strengthening literacy programs and improving reading and writing skills for groups who missed out on education in the early stages, in addition to developing the capabilities of citizens of different ages to interact with the requirements of the age of artificial intelligence, and expanding the culture of entrepreneurship.
With this new accession, the number of Saudi cities approved within the Learning Cities is divided into eight cities: Jubail, Yanbu, Medina, Al-Ahsa, and King Abdullah Economic City, in addition to the three new cities: Riyadh, Al-Ula, and Riyadh Al-Khubara.
UNESCO confirmed that this expansion reflects the Kingdom’s success in building an integrated educational model that is consistent with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, and highlights its ability to provide high-quality educational experiences, promote a culture of continuous learning as a pivotal pillar in human and economic development, and consolidate the Kingdom’s presence as an influential force in the global education system.
