The UAE is keen to expand its economic partnerships with Latin American countries

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, and President of the Republic of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, discussed today paths of cooperation and joint work to strengthen bilateral relations, especially in the fields of economy, trade, investment, renewable energy, sustainability, and other sectors that constitute common development priorities for the benefit and prosperity of the two countries and their peoples.

This came during the reception of His Highness the President of the State at the Beach Palace in Abu Dhabi, the President of Ecuador, who is on an official visit to the UAE.

At the beginning of the meeting, the President of Ecuador congratulated His Highness the President of the State on the occasion of the 54th Union Day, wishing the UAE continued progress and development.

The two sides affirmed their mutual keenness to continue pushing development cooperation relations towards broader horizons during the next stage, in addition to investing in the various opportunities available in the path of Emirati-Ecuadorian relations in a way that serves the two countries’ common vision towards achieving development.

His Highness the President of the State and the President of Ecuador also exchanged views on a number of issues of common concern, stressing the importance of working to consolidate the causes of peace and stability at the regional and global levels, which contributes to achieving development and prosperity for all.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed the UAE’s keenness to expand its economic partnerships with Latin American countries and took important steps in this aspect during the recent period, indicating that this trend represents a source of strength for relations between the UAE and Ecuador, based on the state’s approach and vision in building development partnerships that benefit and benefit everyone.

For his part, the President of Ecuador expressed his thanks to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the warm reception, stressing his country’s keenness to diversify its economic and investment partnerships with the UAE and expand the horizons of their cooperation in various vital fields that support development, especially the economy, tourism and renewable energy.

His Highness the President also witnessed the signing and announcement ceremony of a cooperation agreement and two memorandums of understanding between the two countries, which included the following:
⦁ An agreement in the field of encouraging and protecting mutual investments between the governments of the UAE and the Republic of Ecuador. Signed on the part of the UAE by Her Excellency Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation, and on the part of Ecuador by His Excellency President Daniel Noboa.

⦁ A memorandum of understanding between the Dubai Chamber for Digital Economy, the Ministry of Communications and Information Society, and the Ecuadorian Chambers of Innovation and Technology… signed by His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications. On the part of Ecuador, His Excellency Roberto Carlos Cory Pesantis, Minister of Communications and Information Society.

⦁ It also included the announcement of a memorandum of understanding regarding cooperation in the areas of labor mobility between the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation in the country and the Ministry of Labor in Ecuador.

The meeting was attended by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office for Development Affairs and Families of Martyrs, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office for Special Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Advisor to His Highness the President, and a number of sheikhs, ministers and senior state officials.
