Equestrian Maryam Karim wins the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Endurance Cup title

Abu Dhabi, December 6 / WAM / Equestrian Maryam Ali Karim, riding the horse “Hammour du Montel” for Al Kamda Stables, won the title of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak “Mother of the Emirates” Cup race for the Special Endurance Stables in the women’s category.

The race was held today, for a distance of 120 km, in Al Wathba, with the participation of 105 female riders, and was organized by the Emirates International Endurance Village, in cooperation with the Emirates Equestrian and Racing Federation.

The champion won the title, recording 4:23:14 hours, at a rate of 27.35 km/hour. The runner-up was the female jockey, Kawthar Zaytoun, also riding “SM Fa Juanita” for the “Al-Kamda” stables, recording 4:31:46 hours, and the third female jockey, Amna Al-Balushi, was riding “At Dale Range Kitty” for the “Commando 2” stables, with a time of 4:31:47 hours.

The winners were crowned by His Excellency Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, President of the Emirates Equestrian and Racing Federation, Her Excellency Noura Al Suwaidi, Secretary General of the General Women’s Federation, President of the Emirates Women’s Sports Federation, Her Excellency Abdullah Majid Al Ali, Director General of the National Archives and Library, Muslim Al Ameri, Director General of the Emirates International Endurance Village in Al Wathba, Ali Al Dhaheri, Director of the Office of His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Christina Abudayyah, Director of Endurance Racing at the International Equestrian Federation.

Dr. Abdullah Al Sheikh, Chairman of the Equestrian Federation’s Endurance Committee, Muhammad Ali Al-Hadrami, Director of Events at the Village, and Lara Sawaya, Executive Director of Sponsorship and Marketing at the Village, also participated in the coronation.

For her part, the horsewoman, Maryam Karim, the champion of the race, thanked and appreciated Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, “Mother of the Emirates,” President of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme President of the Family Development Foundation, for her support and assistance to Emirati women, and for providing the opportunity for female jockeys to participate in the race and win prizes.

Al Ameri stressed that the race consolidates its prestigious position and embodies the UAE’s pioneering efforts in empowering women with competitive capabilities, through the broad participation of female jockeys.

He thanked and appreciated the wise leadership for supporting the development of the Emirati equestrian sport, and providing all capabilities, support and sponsorship for the various events, given the strong and inspiring national heritage that this sport represents.

Muhammad Al-Hadrami praised the great efforts of the village staff in various technical and veterinary specializations, and their keenness to apply the best international practices in organizing the race, in line with the qualitative development strategy to consolidate modern technology in organizing races inside and outside the country.

In turn, Lara Sawaya said that the efforts of the partners and sponsors had a tangible impact on the success of the various events in today’s race and during the last Federation Day Cup race, through innovative initiatives that received attention and follow-up from the village’s visitors and audience.
