Mexico’s cities top the crowds at the World Cup Fan Festival

Mexico City, June 19, 2026 – The 2026 World Cup Fan Festival continued to attract fans in the three host countries, the United States of America, Mexico, and Canada, exceeding the barrier of two million visitors after the first 24 matches of the tournament were held, in an indicator that reflects the great public momentum accompanying the global football event.

The festival is organized in 13 cities distributed across Canada, Mexico, and the United States. It provides fans with the opportunity to follow World Cup matches and enjoy various entertainment and cultural programs.

The festival registered 1,992,302 visitors by the end of the first round of tournament matches that concluded yesterday, while the sites designated for the festival in Canada and the United States continued to operate at full capacity.

The three Mexican host cities topped the list of public attendance; The cumulative number of visitors reached 527,100 in Mexico City, 244,710 in Monterrey, and 218,424 in Guadalajara.

Swiss Gianni Infantino, President of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), said that the Fan Festival forms an essential part of the fans’ experience during the World Cup, expressing his happiness with the great turnout it has witnessed so far.

He added that the goal of the festival is to provide spaces that bring together residents of the host cities and audiences coming from around the world to enjoy the atmosphere of the tournament, in addition to various entertainment and cultural events, noting that the wide response reflects the vision of the host cities and their organizational efforts, with the expectation of receiving millions of additional visitors in the coming weeks.

The festival’s activities kicked off strongly with the opening of the tournament on June 11, as fans flocked to the main Zocalo square in Mexico City to watch the opening match, while the cities of Monterrey and Guadalajara witnessed a large crowd attending to support the Mexican national team.

The start of the tournament was also preceded by countdown events in Mexico City, Los Angeles and Toronto, and the Canadian city witnessed various artistic performances that attracted large numbers of audiences.

With the teams of Canada and the United States achieving positive results at the beginning of their journey in the tournament, the festival sites in both countries were filled with fans, while mass events continued in several cities, including Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Miami and Vancouver, which added their own cultural and entertainment character to the celebrations.

It is expected that the coming weeks will witness more artistic and entertainment events, in addition to the live broadcast of World Cup matches on giant screens, which will enhance the fans’ experience until the conclusion of the tournament on July 19.
