Netanyahu expects to move to the second phase of the Gaza agreement “very soon”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced Sunday that he expects to move to the second phase of the US-sponsored ceasefire agreement in Gaza “very soon.”

During a joint press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz after their meeting, Netanyahu said, “We discussed how to put an end to Hamas’ rule in Gaza… We have finished the first part… and after that we expect to move very soon to the second stage, which is more difficult.”

The Israeli Prime Minister said that the political annexation of the West Bank is still under discussion, and that the status quo is expected to remain unchanged for the foreseeable future.
