At 5%… Trump threatens Mexico with additional tariffs
US President Donald Trump threatened to impose additional tariffs 5% on imports from Mexico against the backdrop of a dispute over water shares along the common border between the two countries.

This warning comes after calls from legislators in Texas to put pressure on the southern neighbor.
According to a treaty concluded in 1944Mexico is committed to handing over water from the eastern basin of the Rio River Grande To the United States, in exchange for receiving water from the western Colorado River, allowing the two countries to share the scarce water resources on the border. Disagreements over these quotas were frequent, especially during periods of drought.
Trump currently says that Mexico has failed to fulfill its obligations over the past five years, and owes nearly one billion cubic meters of water. He called for the release of about a quarter of this quantity by 31 December, with the remainder to be delivered shortly thereafter.
