Abu Dhabi, 9 December / WAM / Chinese director, producer and screenwriter Stanley Tong confirmed that the “Bridge” Summit is a pioneering media experience that works to expand the horizon of cooperation between countries of the world in various sectors of media, entertainment, and sports, expressing his happiness to participate in this global event, which is witnessing a prominent presence from China, the United States of America, and all countries of the world.
Tong said in a statement to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, on the sidelines of his participation in the Bridge Summit activities: “From the first day of this event, I noticed a wide presence of modern technologies, not only related to the film industry, but also to new technology and innovations, which is very important at this time in order to unify efforts for the better in all fields.”
Stanley Tong spoke about his first visit to the Emirates, which was in 2014, and witnessed the beginning of writing the famous film Kung Fu Yoga, which was filmed in the Emirates. He said: “The experience was very enjoyable, especially with the great support from government agencies, the police, and all the agencies specialized in filming films, in addition to the cooperation of local actors and technicians.”
He explained that the movie Kung Fu Yoga achieved the highest revenues in China during the Chinese New Year holiday, and that filming it in the Emirates contributed to increasing the number of Chinese tourists to the Emirates after the latest hotels that appeared in the movie were shown at that time.
He continued: “China and the Arab world share many values, such as love for the family, respect for women, care for the elderly and children, and a commitment to trust and the word, which makes these shared values in the dramatic cooperation between the two sides capable of expansion in the coming years.”
He revealed that the coming period will witness a new work for him, the script of which is being written and will be filmed in the Emirates, pointing out that the continuous development in the Emirates in various fields has made him excited to present a new film experience here after the success of his first experience.
Tong explained that any joint production between China and the Arab world requires writers and producers working directly together to understand cultural differences and choose characters suitable for integration into a common story that can touch the audiences of both parties, considering that respect for local culture is a prerequisite for the success of any project.
He pointed out that cultural differences can constitute interesting material, and that adventure stories remain a universal language that everyone understands, considering that the UAE has many wonderful regions that give the works an attractive adventurous character for viewers.
He stressed that cinema is capable of bringing together cultures and bringing people together, especially among young people, and that his goal is to introduce the Chinese audience to the real Arab world, and at the same time present Chinese culture to the Arab audience.
