BEIJING, 15 JUNE / WAM / The United Arab Emirates is preparing to participate as a guest of honor in the Beijing International Book Fair 2026, through the “Emirati House” pavilion, which is supervised by the UAE Embassy in the People’s Republic of China and jointly organized with the Ministry of Culture, under the slogan “Society and People”, in a step that reflects the depth of cultural relations between the two countries and enhances the UAE’s presence on the Chinese cultural scene.

The participation aims to enhance international cultural dialogue and expand areas of cooperation between cultural institutions, publishing houses, and entities working in the creative industries, in line with the vision of the UAE, which places people at the heart of the development process, and considers culture, knowledge, and creativity essential pillars for building societies and creating the future.

The organization of the “Emirati House” pavilion is an extension of a series of cultural initiatives implemented by the UAE Embassy in Beijing to enhance national identity and consolidate the country’s cultural message in China, where the pavilion has become a prominent platform for introducing Emirati culture and highlighting the values of tolerance, coexistence and openness that the country embraces.

Participation is of particular importance as it represents the third edition of the “Emirati House” since its launch, after it became an umbrella for the Emirati cultural presence in China and a platform for introducing the country’s national identity in the most prominent cultural events and forums in which the country participates.

The embassy participated in the thirty-first session of the Beijing International Book Fair through the “Emirati House” pavilion, which was organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, and showcased the features of the Emirati heritage through traditional Arab hospitality and the arts of Arabic calligraphy and art, in addition to a library that included a variety of Emirati publications.

The pavilion witnessed a large turnout by Chinese visitors and officials, and also hosted a number of dialogue sessions and cultural activities that contributed to enhancing intellectual and knowledge exchange between participants from the Emirates, China, and various countries of the world, which strengthened the position of the “Emirati House” as one of the most prominent platforms for cultural communication between the two countries.

In the context of its continuous efforts to enhance the Emirati cultural presence in China, the embassy had organized the “Emirati House” event at the Mutianyu site on the Great Wall of China as part of the “Huairou Great Wall Marathon and Zayed Charity Race” events, where it provided visitors with an integrated experience to learn about the Emirati heritage through displays of folk arts and traditional handicrafts such as Sadu, Talli, and palm wickerwork, in addition to popular cuisine and authentic Arab hospitality.

The event witnessed a remarkable interaction from participants and visitors who expressed interest in learning about Emirati customs and traditions, while heritage activities contributed to highlighting the richness of the country’s cultural heritage and enhancing human rapprochement between the Emirati and Chinese peoples.

The embassy had also organized the “Emirati-Chinese Friendship Festival” in cooperation with the Central Academy of Fine Arts, to celebrate four decades of diplomatic relations between the two countries, in a step that reflected the keenness of both sides to expand the horizons of cultural, artistic and academic cooperation.

The festival included joint art exhibitions that brought together works by artists from the Emirates and China, in addition to live performances of Emirati heritage crafts presented by the Al Ghadeer Emirati Crafts Foundation, which included the arts of Sadu, Talli, and palm wickerwork, and received wide attention from the Chinese audience.

UAE-Chinese relations have witnessed continuous development since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1984, rising to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2018.

Cultural and educational cooperation constitutes one of the main paths of this partnership, in addition to economic and trade cooperation, which has made the UAE the largest trading partner of China in the Arab region.

The initiatives of the UAE Embassy in Beijing, from the “Emirati House” to cultural festivals and international participations, embody the country’s commitment to enhancing dialogue among civilizations and expanding the horizons of cultural exchange with China, in a way that supports the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries and enhances rapprochement between their friendly peoples.
