“I saw death with my own eyes.” A Lebanese journalist talks about her situation after the roof of a hall fell on her inside a hotel (photos)

After she was exposed to a horrific accident a few months ago inside a hotel in Cairo, the Lebanese journalist and artist Razan Maghribi spoke about new details after the Misdemeanor Court issued a ruling of imprisonment and temporary compensation in her favor.

Razan published a post through the “Story” feature on her Instagram account in which she said that she had remained silent throughout the past period, but decided to speak out now after the ruling was issued, noting that she miraculously escaped death due to what she described as “dangerous negligence” inside the hotel.

Razan said that a large part of the hall’s ceiling suddenly fell on top of her while she was preparing to give a party for a real estate development company. She said: “I was standing in the hall and suddenly a large part of the ceiling fell on me…a moment in which I saw death with my own eyes.”

She confirmed that she suffered serious injuries that required surgical operations, leaving her in great psychological shock, stressing that what happened was not a passing accident but rather a “serious defect in safety procedures” inside a hotel that was still newly opened, stressing that the greatest danger was the possibility of injuring children or anyone else.
