Mohammed bin Rashid announces that Egyptian Professor Abbas El-Gamal has won the Arab Geniuses Award

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, “may God protect him,” today announced the winner of the Arab Geniuses Award in the Engineering and Technology category for the year 2025, which is Professor Abbas El-Gamal from Egypt, Hitachi Professor at the Stanford University School of Engineering.
His Highness said in his official account on the “X” platform:

As is the custom every year to celebrate Arab minds within the Arab Geniuses Award, and after receiving thousands of nominations…
Today we announce the winner of the Arab Geniuses Award in the Engineering and Technology category for the year 2025, Professor Abbas El-Gamal from Egypt, Hitachi Professor at the Stanford University School of Engineering, who made pioneering scientific contributions to network information theory that laid the foundation for many modern digital networks around the world.
His Highness continued, saying: “Professor Abbas Al-Jamal contributed to the development of field programmable gate arrays (FPGA) and CMOS image sensors used in smartphones, and his work contributed to the development of technologies supporting digital sensor, computing and communications systems.”
His Highness added: “He published more than 230 scientific papers, and his book The Theory of Network Information is a global reference for students of engineering and technology, and major technology companies around the world benefit from his research.”
