The “red carpet” will be made available to all passengers at Dubai Airport soon

The CEO of Dubai Airports, Paul Griffiths, confirmed that Dubai International Airport is taking rapid steps towards ending the scene of traditional queues, by adopting facial recognition and biometrics systems, adding that “it will not be long before we generalize the (smart red carpet) tunnel to include all airport guests,” which will contribute to significantly reducing waiting times, and giving travelers more time to enjoy their flights.
Griffiths said, on his account on the LinkedIn platform, “Biometric technologies enable us to continue improving the experience of our guests, making movement through our buildings smoother than ever before,” stressing: “Waiting in queues at Dubai Airport has become a thing of the past, and quickly.”
He explained that the “smart red carpet tunnel” constitutes an advanced model for facilitating the movement of passengers, as their faces are automatically recognized while passing through the tunnel, and they are given the green light to immediately cross without the need for additional inspection procedures.
The General Administration of Identity and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai stated that the “Red Carpet – Smart Corridor” project has brought about a qualitative transformation in the travel experience through Dubai Airport, by employing artificial intelligence and facial recognition technologies, to facilitate crossing without the need to present documents.
Residency Dubai has begun operating the “red carpet” in Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport for departing business class passengers. The “Red Carpet – Smart Corridor” project is one of the most prominent achievements of “Dubai Residence” in the field of smart travel, as it enables travelers to quickly transit through Dubai Airport within seconds using only their facial fingerprint, in an experience that embodies the integration between technology and people, and enhances Dubai’s position as a global leader in innovation and digital transformation.
