Mansour bin Zayed issues a decision to form the National Committee for the Union’s Narrative

His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Presidential Office, issued a decision to form the “National Committee for the Union’s Narrative,” which is the only approved reference for the narrative of the establishment of the United Arab Emirates and is concerned with documenting the accurate historical narrative of the events that preceded and during the establishment of the Union, drafting the approved official document for the Union’s narrative and ensuring that the national, media and educational content is consistent with its contents, in a way that embodies the pivotal role of the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “may God have mercy on him,” in establishing the state and consolidating its union.

The decision stipulates that the committee will be chaired by Ahmed Juma Al Zaabi, Advisor to His Highness the President of the State, and its membership includes a representative of: the Presidential Authority for Protocol and Strategic Narration, the National Media Office, the Education, Human Development and Society Council, the Office of the Founder and Archives, the National Library, the Executive Office of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the General Secretariat of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai, the General Secretariat of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Sharjah, the General Secretariat of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Ajman, and the General Secretariat of the Executive Council. For the Emirate of Umm Al Quwain, the General Secretariat of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, and the Court of the Ruler of Fujairah.

According to the decision, the committee is responsible for preparing and approving the official document for the narrative of the union, which includes the precise sequence of historical events related to the establishment of the United Arab Emirates, using approved terms and synonyms, unifying the national narrative, and ensuring that all forms of national, media, educational, and cultural content are consistent with the accurate information approved in the official document.

Adopting national campaigns related to the Union and national symbols before launching them, and ensuring their consistency with the Union’s narrative in coordination with the relevant authorities, and approving national content related to the Union and state symbols in the media, educational curricula, and various publications and editions in coordination with the relevant authorities, and coordinating with relevant government agencies and national institutions to ensure a unified narrative in all published or displayed content dealing with the establishment of the Union or its symbols, and providing recommendations and directives to governmental, media, and educational agencies to ensure adherence to the approved narrative and review And updating the narrative of the federation periodically according to reliable research and historical developments, while preserving its fundamental constants and the various tasks assigned to the committee by the head of the Bureau, which are related to the narrative of the establishment of the federation of the United Arab Emirates.

The decision stipulated that, in order to exercise its assigned tasks, the committee can coordinate with federal and local government agencies and national, media, educational and cultural institutions, to ensure unification of the national narrative around the establishment of the union and the symbols of the state. These bodies are committed to presenting any content, campaigns or materials dealing with the establishment of the union or its symbols to the committee for approval before publication or implementation, in a way that ensures the accuracy of the information and its consistency with the official document of the union’s narrative.

In accordance with the decision, the committee may also form work teams, assign them some of its tasks, and may seek assistance in exercising its powers from the experts, consultants, and stakeholders it deems appropriate, without having a counted vote when making its decisions or recommendations, and every ruling that contradicts or conflicts with this decision will be repealed.
