"Emirates Pilot Training" Celebrates the graduation of 77 pilots

Dubai, December 16, 2017 – His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, today witnessed the graduation ceremony of the sixth batch of the Emirates Pilot Training Academy, which included 77 pilots, after an intensive training process.

The ceremony was attended by a number of dignitaries, in addition to the Emirates Group’s senior leadership team, graduates, their families and friends, faculty members and students of the academy.

According to the press release issued by the group, this annual ceremony confirms the academy’s pivotal role in preparing a new generation of qualified pilots, as the total number of its graduates has risen to more than 300 pilots to date.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum said: Today’s graduation ceremony confirms our determination to build a solid foundation for the future of aviation and constitutes a new step in the process of building a generation that will lead the future of aviation with confidence and competence. These graduates embody the values ​​of discipline and commitment that underpin a highly competitive global industry, and they confirm our country’s ability to prepare competencies that possess knowledge, skill and vision.

His Highness added: Today, these graduates have become part of a pioneering system that contributes to connecting the world, raising standards of safety and service, and pushing the boundaries of innovation in the aviation sector, as their success represents an extension of Dubai’s approach to investing in people and consolidating its position as a global center for aviation, and we congratulate them on this distinguished achievement, as they were ambitious and proved their worth.

The ceremony witnessed the graduation of 77 students to begin their careers not only as pilots, but as a new generation contributing to the development of the aviation industry and anticipating its future.

The batch included 52 graduates from the Emirates Group’s National Pilot Training and Qualification Programme, in addition to 25 graduates representing 15 different nationalities.

During the past five years, the academy has graduated more than 300 trainee pilots, most of whom joined the leadership or training on Emirates Airlines’ fleet of wide-body aircraft, which reflects its pivotal role in providing the sector with highly qualified competencies.

The training and qualification program for national pilots is the largest initiative of its kind in the country, and its goal is to prepare a generation of highly skilled Emirati pilots.

Those affiliated with the program receive full sponsorship from the Emirates Group during the training period at the academy, and then move on after graduation to complete their specific training before joining Emirates Airlines.

The Emirates Pilot Training Academy adopts a unique approach in the field of aviation training, based on the integrated integration of academic excellence, the latest air training techniques, and the development of leadership skills, with the aim of preparing world-class pilots capable of operating the most advanced wide-body aircraft in the skies.

The academy honored five outstanding students this year: Abdul Rahman Al Nuaimi, Falah Al Hosani, Giada Macario, and Shaheer Bhatti, while Saeed Abdullah received the Most Hardworking Award.

The Emirates Pilot Training Academy campus, which is the size of 200 football fields, includes 36 modern classrooms, 6 full-motion flight simulators, an independent control tower, and a dedicated 1,800-meter runway. The classrooms are also equipped with two 86-inch touch screens that operate with training software developed by Boeing specifically for the academy.

The academy was launched in 2017 and began training Emirati pilots, then expanded its scope to receive students from various countries of the world.

The academy provides the latest educational technologies and a fleet of 32 training aircraft, including 20 Cirrus SR22G6 single-engine aircraft, 5 Diamond DA-42NG twin-engine aircraft, two Gamebird GP1 aircraft, and 5 Embraer Phenom 100 EV light jets.
